Who's Miss Gwen ?
I am known for being a dynamic and fun-loving typical French lady !
I taught English for 20 years in France and abroad, yet I have always had a deep love for my own language and culture.
My years working with teenagers have taught me patience and kindness, and I understand how important it is for everyone to feel comfortable when speaking a different language. If you feel nervous about speaking French, we will always find a way to relax and have fun to make things easier !
My husband, son, and I live in a beautiful picturesque village named Montagnac (Le Gard, 30) and we adore our home for its stunning view. We are surrounded by friendly and helpful neighbors and we feel very lucky to live here. We’re a family which loves meeting new people and sharing our love for French culture and hear about other people's lives.
We all speak English, so if you ever feel tired after a day of practicing French, you’re welcome to switch to English and relax a little !

A warm and friendly welcome in my family in a 17th century mansion, yet, with some privacy !
My husband, my son and I moved into this house a few years ago and we're trying to make it warm and welcoming for you to feel at home. During your immersion, you will be staying in the "gîte", an independant newly-renovated apartment.

Le gîte
We are very excited to welcome you in our newly-renovated guesthouse (le gîte) – a self-contained apartment attached to the main house.
It mainly features two double bedrooms, a bathroom and separated toilets, a spacious modern kitchen with a large sliding window to enjoy the view, a cosy living room offering the same stunning views over the mountains and vineyard, and a beautiful terrace to enjoy outdoor meals and while admiring the sunsets.

I feel extremely lucky to have come across Gwen in order to spend a week in France on an immersion course.
From the start I liked her vibes and sense of humour without ever feeling under pressure. Even though I have family who live in France, I wanted to find a family suitable for me to really knuckle down with the language. Who better than Gwen! She is truly passionate about sharing her knowledge of the language and local history which made my stay a really intensive and satisfying experience. I couldn’t have felt more comfortable in her beautiful country home or made to feel as welcome by her truly lovely family (and adorable golden retriever!).
The programme Gwen concocted for me entailed of three unique workshops which I enjoyed tremendously, a visit to the traditional village of Vezenobre and various outings to historical sites including Aigue-Mortes and the Roman monuments in Nîmes, the ornithological park in the Camargue to discover the flamingos up close, not to mention the fantastic traditional French lunches and relaxing soirees with the family.
I have to thank Gwen and her family again for their generous hospitality and patience with me throughout the week with me persevering to speak the language! They were all prepared to help me and guide me with my faux pas with humour and encouragement. For me, without a doubt, it was definitely the best choice that I could have made.

Let me start with the week I had in Montagnac with Gwen and her family. What a week! What a place!
Sunday evening Gwen, Loic and their son greeted me with our first home meal... such a good start !
Their 17th century home, right on the cliff edge in a tiny village was sublime, the food amazing, wine delightful and company - the best! I very quickly felt so welcomed and throughout the week the conversation didn't stop. In as much French as I could muster but we switched to English when I needed to. It was just what my heart needed. On top of the cultural workshops, Gwen took me out on excursions : Uzes for market day to buy supplies for our cooking class that night, a winery to learn from the vigneron, Avignon for the theatre festival and a visit to Palais des Papes and lunch with Arlette, Gwen's mum! We also had a day out in Nîmes, of course !
My French definitely improved through the week and more so after a glass or two of champagne on our last night together.
I left feeling really uplifted, it was a brilliant week, in a beautiful place with people who now feel like old friends !

From the moment I arrived, I felt like I’d stepped into a cozy French movie scene. The house is beautiful, and my bedroom had such a charming, French vibe. Every morning started with French breakfast and the sound of birds, so peaceful!
Gwen crafted an itinerary that was the perfect balance of fun and learning. Our day trips to Uzès, Nîmes, and La Camargue were amazing, and I never felt rushed. I got to practice French everywhere we went but in such a relaxed way. The day in La Camargue was my favorite: stunning views, birdwatching, and a delicious lunch in Aigues-Mortes! We had fantastic food every day anyway (the cheese selection one night was unreal!) and wine to match.
The workshops were pretty fun too as Gwen was both passionate and patient with me when speaking French. I also loved the movie we studied together. I am definitely more confident with my French now !
If you’re looking to dive into French culture in the most authentic way, I can’t recommend Gwen enough!
FAQ
What level of French do I need to have before booking an immersion stay?
My program is designed for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers. I’ll adapt the activities and lessons to match your language skills and goals.
I don’t really want to learn or speak French but I would love to experience the French lifestyle with you.

What if I am too tired or frustrated to speak French ?
We can switch to English for a while and enjoy a fluent conversation together.
How do I get to Nîmes ?
Nîmes is easy to reach with the TGV trains from Paris in less than 3 hours. Some lines also leaves from Charles De Gaulle airport and go straight to Nîmes. Please, make sure to arrive at Nîmes central if you need a pick-up.
Do I need to rent a car ?
I will be driving you during the planned excursions. However, if you’d like more independence during your free time, renting a car might be a good idea.
What if I want to book an immersion stay starting on a different day than Sunday?
To manage my calendar efficiently, stays are typically scheduled from Sunday to Saturday. However, during the low season, let me know your preferred dates, and we may be able to arrange something.
Can I bring my partner or a friend to the immersion stay without them attending the French class?
Absolutely! My program is flexible and can accommodate couples or small groups. Just request a quote and I’ll tailor the experience to suit everyone’s needs.
